The 10 Best Songs of 2011 (So Far)

Thus far this year, we’ve dished out about 250 free MP3s off 250 new releases from 250 artists. That’s a lot to take in, so as we reach the halfway point of 2011, it seems prudent to put together a shortlist of the year’s highlights so far.

This list is not editorial; these rankings are based on ratings feedback from the site’s visitors as of July 1st. (That’s in bold to quash some of the inevitable “these are stupid hipster songs” comments.) ]

Click on any artist photo or song title to view that song’s full post. Click here to download all 10 songs in an iTunes-ready .zip file.

from chile: best discover ever, in 2011 –> buried beds

thanks for all, you’re a must in my RSS

  2. Moon Head Says:

I’m so glad that the Buried Beds song is in the top ten. It’s probably my favourite song that I’ve ever found on this website (and that’s saying somthing).

  3. Junichi Says:

Ever notice how every single one of these is an underground band no one has ever hear of.. and listening to the songs… not a single one of them is anywhere near “The best song this year”. Some are OK at best. So if you’re going to post a list like this make sure you let everyone know that the list is based on the opinion of a useless PBR drinking hipster douchebag. Not someone who actually knows what the fuck they are talking about.

  4. fishmadder Says:

Junichi: everyone knows that this is a “best of” list of the people’s choices. It says so in the header for the list as well as in the intro. So basically, to anyone who is literate, it’s pretty clear that this is not “based on the opinion of a useless PBR drinking hipster douchebag”. Troll much?

  5. Kasey Says:

Love them all! Downloading asap! Thanks for sharing.

  6. Brimshack Says:

Oh man! I guess this is what it’s like to grow old. I don’t know any of tehse bands, much less like them. (Hangs head)

  7. ohgodno Says:

    what fresh-hell is this

  8. Geoff Tate Says:

This list is just further proof that today’s music is a steaming load of crap.
