Giveaway: CDs from LANDy, Dandy Warhols, DePedro Giveaway: CDs from LANDy, Dandy Warhols, DePedro

CONGRATULATIONS TO LISA A. FROM NEW ULM, MINNESOTA ON WINNING THE GIVEAWAY!

For our new giveaway, we’re raising the prize bar higher than ever: this time we’re giving away copies of three new releases to a lucky One Track Mind reader.

Here’s the loot:

LANDy – Eros and Omissions

This is the debut record from multitalented actor, filmmaker, and musician Adam Goldberg. Adam recruited the help of some gifted friends (like Stephen Drozd of The Flaming Lips and Aaron Espinoza from Earlimart) to fashion a cohesive whole out of songs he has been writing since 2002. The result was an album full of pop melodies, indie aesthetics, and hooks that sweep you off your feet.

The Dandy Warhols – The Dandy Warhols ARE Sound
In 2003, The Dandy Warhols released their fourth LP, Welcome to the Monkeyhouse–only it wasn’t the mix the band had been pushing their label to release. The band’s version was mixed by Russell Elavedo (The Roots, Common, Alicia Keys) and prompted former Capitol Records label head Andy Slater to ask, “Who’s gonna play this on the radio? It’s not black. It’s not white. What is it?” Now you can decide for yourself, since this is the Dandy’s record as it was meant to be heard.

Stream or download a live version of “Burned” (the reworked version of “(You Come In) Burned”) from 2008:

DePedro – DePedro

DePedro’s eponymous debut will be released August 18th and is the work of one Jairo Zavala. His bilingual tunes share a lot of character with the music of Calexico, for whom Zavala has been a touring guitarist, while tapping into all sorts of other far-flung genres from Afrobeat to flamenco. Thanks in part to this multicultural fascination and the sweetness of Zavala’s delivery, this set of songs feels intimate and timeless.
